MY NEW LOVE. This one is a real beauty, this practical and super affordable companion for a movie freak nomad like me.. The NEXT BASE Portable DVD player.

It's not blow your mind technology, its just a compact DVD player as you know it, it comes with a 4 inch LCD screen where you can watch your videos straight from quiapo or your video stores, no conversions, no uploads or downloads, just pop and play ur CD, VCD, DVD disk.
If you think a 4 inch screen is too small for you, look at a 21 inch from 9 feet far, most probably the distance of your tv from your sofa, its just the same size from that vantage point if your DVD player is perched on your lap. Isn't life neat?
Accessories : 3 hour rechargeable battery (good for about 2 movies)
carry case
a/v cable
power supply
remote control (!)
Funny conversation with clerk :
C : (with pride) Ma'am it comes with a remote control
N : What will i need the remote control for? you think i will use this unit more than a foot away? wala akong superman vision.
C : a he he.. basta po mayroong remote control
But then i realize (at home na) since you can use this as a normal DVD, when u have to plug it with a television mode, yup, the couch potato factor was considered (sorry manong, di mo naman ako kinonvince na hindi pala ridiculous yung idea.)

I'll take a better picture next time, my player on my bed.. he he..

nope i haven't slept with it yet.

All the usual buttons just more compact.

DAIG KO PA ANG HMR

DAIG KO PA ANG HMR Its in our genes.. to hang on to stuff other people consider trash. Can't seem to say goodbye to old gadgets unless i found a new home for them. Lookit what i found from my stash.. my first "walkman" given by my dad about 1980 (bet some of you haven't been born yet) and i remember playing my own punk rock cassette tape with the following songs.. rock lobster, de do do do de da da da, ant music.. This is senti to the max, i still get that high when i plug my ears with music ironic with my millieu, just like the kid at face/off listening to sugary pop-music, while people are shooting intensely at each other. I have never outgrown this kind of isolation :)

My Music Jogger -- still can remember the day my dad gave me this.. when you are a kid, waking up at 11 pm is just like christmas, my mom woke me up and led me zombielike to the living room where my dad gave me the big blue box.. It had a lady on the box, this unit had a leather case with bag straps or belt hook options (whooaaahhh.. belts where really strong those days.. he he)

notice the vintage stickers : Dymo DANDAN

and a bible verse sticker Isaiah 30:21 (aww..)

What's better was when i woke up the next morning the box was still by my side, it was not a dream. T'was for real. :)

Special features : 2 headphones for sharing. Sony didn't have this,

.. and a hotline to bring you back to reality (push the button and talk to the mic.. "Nina.. kakain na!")

Blue metal and silver buttons, beautiful!

I sleep with it on the bed, wake up on the floor.. they don't do gadgets this way anymore

The old with the new :)

Just this week, i found it since i was rummaging for an old Hi-8 i wanted to donate to an archive museum. I put in some batteries and tried it with a tape.. it still works :) I would love to march to mega mall one of these days just having a stroll with that as an accessory in tow. Try me! My walkman journeys : Poppy CP 100 - super basic cassette player 1980ish to forever Panasonic model something something - this one has radio and is auto reverse (must for an upgrade because i waste up my batteries falling asleep on one side of the cassette, and that is not good for the trees) - 1988ish to forever (just passed it on to my nephew) Ipod shuffle (1st gen) - 2005 - 2006 (the circle of life.. papa is using it now) Ipod Nano - 2006 (went dead) Ipod Video - 2007
